JOANNA CYZMAN

When I first started teaching at Bow Valley College, after moving to Calgary in 2007, it became very clear to me that there was a disconnect between what we taught at the college to future ECE's and the care that was practiced in centres throughout the city.  It was also very surprising to me that what I experienced as a norm for child care in Manitoba was not necessarily practiced in another province.  It became my mission to start a child care centre that focused on quality and included a home like environment for all the families, children and staff.   I wanted to implement and practice  the quality of care I was (and still am) teaching at the college and was use to providing to children and families in my care in Manitoba.

MARSHA LATHAM

I have this passion that will not disappear, it's working with children!  From a young age, my grandmother was my primary caregiver who taught me the beauty of the world, hands on.  She treated me as an equal, encouraged me to be myself and challenged me to seek answers on my own with her guidance.   She exposed me to art, music and dancing in a way that made me asking for more!  My childhood was pretty amazing and I feel that it is my responsibility to ensure your children have that too, in our centres.

With 30 years of combined experience and an in-depth knowledge of the fundamental components of managing and operating child care centres, both partners understand what it takes to operate a successful child care centre.

Trained both as Child Development Supervisors and having the opportunity and experience to be front line staff, Supervisors, Executive Directors and Instructors, has given them the knowledge to successfully develop satellite programs, individual education plans, workshops, staff conferences and centre strategic goals and objectives.

The belief of investing in children at an early age develops capable, competent and contributing adults; therefore it is extremely important to provide a natural, open ended, unrestrictive environment where optimal learning will occur and be supported.
